Missouri City, Texas

HISTORY

The very extravagant city of Missouri was first officially settled in 1894 by two real estate investors named R.M Cash and L.E. Luckle. They purchased four square miles of land directly on the route of the BBB & C Railroad track. The BBB & C railroad track was the first operating railroad in the state of Texas. Cash and Luckle advertised this land as "a Land of genial sunshine and eternal summer" in St. Louis Missouri and its surrounding areas. W.R McElroy later than settled 80 acres in the same vicinity, looking to promote the area with Cash and Luckle. McElroy named this area Missouri City. Not too long after the city was settled, a terrible blizzard hit the area which scared many newcomers and up and left. But those who stayed were successful in farming and ranching. This was one of the first towns in Fort Bend County to make use of natural gas.

For just a little more history about Missouri City Texas, all though Missouri City was settled very early, it took almost a century later before City Hall Missouri City was adopted.

SCHOOLS

Missouri City has done a great job with the education system. Being in the Fort Bend Independent School District is no easy task. The competition is high and does call for a lot of work from the students as well as the teachers. Schools like Quail Valley Elementary, Briargate Elementary, and Hunter Elementary are great school to send the kids in grades kindergarten to 5^th. These schools teach the kids at an unexpected level so that they are already ready to move on and do well as they do it in the next level. Lake Olympia Junior High Quail Valley Junior High and the newest edition Billy Baine Junior High are all stupendous schools with in the Missouri City area to send your kids. They not only prepare them mentally but also physically for the challenges to come about them. That means real life like wise and athletically. And only to name a few Dulles High School, Elkins and Hightower, have some of the most spectacular programs on campus. These three schools are top ranked in education and definitely athletically!

ENTERTAINMENT

Shopping here in Missouri city is limited but it does not mean you are not able to. Missouri City is not far from First Colony Mall at all. Even though shopping is something we all like to do, don´t limit the entertainment in Missouri City Texas just to shopping. There is so much to offer in the Missouri City Parks and Recreation Center as well as the restaurants.

In Missouri City´s Park and Recreation Center there are many activities that you may take part at the center. There is a weight room, cardiovascular room, two auditoriums for special receptions, a basketball court and more. The recreation center in Missouri City also host summer camps for the young ones, with lunch, field trips, fun and games, and new friends all for a decent price. For more important information, they also host a Health Fair, free of admissions, free screening, free health and fitness information, free refreshments, and prizes at the door. Moving on from all the excitement of the recreation center, the restaurants in Missouri City are almost unbeatable. The have some of the most fun, entertaining and definitely delicious restaurants around. Just to name a few, there is Brookstreet BBQ, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny´s, Wing Stop, DJ´s Restaurant and Bar, and Candelari´s Pizzeria. All of the restaurants are quite different in their own unique way.

So living in Missouri City is not only very comfortable, it is a very convenient city to live in as well. Weather is just as enjoyable or unpredictable as any other city, but for wonderful weather days, go to a park. History and age did not make the city any less wonderful to live in today, so not only should you enjoy living with in Missouri, be apart of the historical as well as lovely city!
